ELLA IRENE MORRISON (nee THORPE) On Monday, April 28, 2003, Ella Irene Morrison passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 87. Irene was born and raised in Winnipeg and received most of her education in St. Vital. She worked in Eatons mail order before joining the CWAC in 1942. After discharge, she worked for Acklands and Armco Canada. She was a member of Silver Heights United Church and of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Irene was predeceased by her husband Alexander; and brothers, James and David. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Vivian Thorpe and Margaret Thorpe; niece Susan Thorpe; nephews, Brian Thorpe, Jeffrey (Louise) Thorpe, Douglas (Lilian) Thorpe, Gordon Thorpe, and their families. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Dianne (Howard) Hanson; and their children, Shari (Perry) Richard and Debra Hanson; and grandchildren, Carissa and Carlyle. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch St. at Mount Royal Avenue, St. James.
